About Green Tides

Across Adur and Worthing there are about forty or so green space volunteer groups, working in parks, cemeteries or other wild spaces, improving the natural habitat or delivering community-led action, including running events. Our groups are part of a wider movement, across the UK, numbering approximately 7000 community-led green space volunteer organisations.

We’re a friendly and enthusiastic group who all care deeply about the green and blue spaces in their community. By working together as Green Tides, groups across Adur and Worthing have created a forum to share challenges and resources, work together and support each other’s projects and work more strategically with the council and other organisations.

After a successful Awards for All lottery funding bid, we have delivered training for groups, attended several community events promoting groups work and have just completed this new website resource. We have managed to support groups by covering insurance costs and ensure our groups are represented and supported effectively by the council.

Donations to Green Tides

A donation to Green Tides today helps us support over 40 small volunteer groups, who between them, do so much to make environment better.  We put on free training courses for our members helping them to stay safe (First Aid training) and specific gardening tools training eg. chainsaw, hedge-cutters, strimmers etc

Some of members don’t have the facility to raise funds themselves.  Therefore, a donation to Green Tides, can go towards spring bulbs, wildflower meadow planting, weeding and litter picking, topping up bird food, planting hedging etc etc.  We are an independent not for profit organisation, who exist only for the benefit of the wider community, indirectly through our volunteer groups.
